Bitcoin Inflows | Reaching Historic Levels Of $48.5B

The digital asset market is on a path towards resurgence right now with bitcoin getting close to its previous All-Time High (ATH) of $69k earlier today. The move was expected by some analysts as the monthly bitcoin inflow of funds reached a massive $48.5 billion in February.

This is the highest amount of money to be redirected to the digital asset market since October 2021. Back then, a new ATH of $69k was witnessed the very next month and its close to it again after last month’s massive figures.

LATEST: Crypto Trading Soars to New Heights as Open Interest Hits ATH, $3 Billion Added in a Day

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a remarkable influx of investments, propelling open interest to an all-time high of $47.43 billion. According to recent data from Coinalyze, the derivatives market is bustling with $44.56 billion in trading contracts, reflecting the heightened interest in Bitcoin’s ascent from $61,000 to $67,000. Over the past day, an impressive increase of over $3 billion in open interest has been noted, aligning with Bitcoin’s push towards its peak of $69,000.

This enthusiastic market sentiment is mirrored in the funding rates, which have soared to levels reminiscent of 2021, indicating a strong bullish outlook for Bitcoin. Despite the potential for a long squeeze due to the market’s lean towards long positions, the surge in open interest underscores a significant inflow of capital into cryptocurrencies. However, with the inherent risks and volatility, participants are urged to exercise caution and implement sound risk management strategies. This phase of investment enthusiasm suggests a confident bet on Bitcoin’s momentum, despite the historical patterns of corrections within bull markets.

NEW: Bitcoin Investors in Profit as Over 97% Addresses Show Unrealized Gains

Analytics firm IntoTheBlock reports that more than 97% of Bitcoin addresses are now “in the money,” indicating substantial unrealized gains for investors. This marks the highest proportion since November 2021, when Bitcoin surged to a record high of $69,000. With Bitcoin currently trading around $65,000, most holders acquired their BTC at prices lower than the present market rate, driving the bullish sentiment. IntoTheBlock suggests that this data signals reduced selling pressure from users aiming to break even, paving the way for new market entrants to buy from existing users at a profit. Bitcoin’s impressive performance, up 54% this year and extending 2022’s 154% gain, is attributed to strong inflows into U.S.-based spot exchange-traded funds approved in January. The embrace of spot ETFs by Wall Street has tipped demand-supply dynamics in favor of bulls, potentially propelling Bitcoin to a new record high. This optimism is reflected in the broader crypto market’s rise, with the CoinDesk 20 Index up 37.8% this year.

Ether is the Schrödinger’s cat of crypto

The topic of ether’s legal status as a commodity (or not) is one of the most heavily debated topics in crypto.

We can think of the question as Schrödinger’s cat of crypto — ether is simultaneously both a commodity and not a commodity. In that sense, the commodity debate is analogous to that famous quantum mechanics paradox about the well-being of Schrödinger’s cat, which is seemingly simultaneously both dead and alive.

But how can Schrödinger’s cat be simultaneously dead and alive, you might ask? Famously, in Copenhagen, the interpreted answer to this paradox for many is that it depends on the circumstance and probabilities. Ether is a commodity just up until the point…

Coinbase’s Paul Grewal ‘doesn’t think much of’ default judgment in ex-Coinbase insider case

Secondary token sales in the case of one of the Coinbase insiders were securities, a court ruled on Friday.

Sameer Ramani, accused of selling tokens in the Wahi brothers case, faces a default judgment from the court after allegedly leaving the country.

Ishan Wahi, an ex-Coinbase employee, was accused of insider trading by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2022. The case is the first of its kind.

The SEC claimed that Wahi tipped Nikhil Wahi and Ramani off to some listing announcements for certain tokens it claimed were securities. The three generated around $1 million in profit from buying and selling 25 crypto assets. The SEC alleged that nine of those were securities.

Ishan…
