Many stocks and ETFs correlated to the crypto space saw even bigger returns.

Coinbase, MicroStrategy, miners, oh my

Coinbase’s stock price has risen roughly 420% in 2023 — as of 11 am ET Friday — despite the company’s ongoing legal battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company’s subscription and services revenue — generated from stablecoins and custodial fees as well as blockchain rewards and interest income — topped its transaction revenue in the second and third quarters.

The results show the crypto exchange’s steps toward becoming more of a “crypto…

How Will Bitcoin And Ethereum’s Differences Impact Their Spot ETFs?

Analysts predict that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will approve spot Bitcoin ETF applications in January 2024, following the approval of Bitcoin (BTC) Futures ETFs in October 2021 and Ether (ETH) Futures ETFs in October 2023.

In anticipation, traditional financial institutions also applied to issue spot Ether ETFs. Since applicants like BlackRock have a near-perfect track record in obtaining SEC approval for their ETFs, spot Ether ETFs are likely to be approved, too. However, the SEC might approve them only after their Bitcoin counterparts, which would mean approval of Ether ETFs in late 2024 or early 2025.

If approved, spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs will attract millions of…

Offline Bitcoin Transactions: Innovative Ways to Send BTC Without Internet

Transacting Bitcoin without an internet connection is possible using several methods. Here are some of the ways you can do this:

SMS-Based Transactions: You can send Bitcoin transactions via SMS using services like CoinText and Coinapult. This involves sending a text message with transaction details to the service, which then broadcasts it to the blockchain .

Satellite Transactions: Blockstream Satellite enables users to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain via satellite signals. You would need a satellite receiver and the appropriate software to create and send transactions to the Bitcoin network .

Radio: It’s possible to broadcast Bitcoin transactions using radio waves. This method has been utilized to send transactions over long distances using shortwave radio and the Lightning Network, although it can be time-consuming and requires specific hardware and software .

Mesh Networks: Solutions like Locha Mesh in Venezuela use mesh networks to pass on Bitcoin transactions from one device to another until they reach a device connected to the internet .

In Africa, a service called Machankura allows users to transact in Bitcoin via USSD, which works on mobile phones without needing data connectivity. This service is operational in several African countries .

These methods provide alternatives for transacting in Bitcoin in scenarios where internet connectivity is unreliable or unavailable.

Platforms for NFT tax-loss harvesting see end-of-year bump

The NFT market has endured a down year as digital collectibles prices broadly failed to recapture previous highs, and changed hands less often than in the past.

Though NFTs have begun to show greater signs of life in the past few weeks, weekly NFT trades have been parked between 100,000 and 150,000 since May after regularly topping 500,000 in early 2022, according to data from Dune Analytics.

Amid the downturn, a slate of platforms have begun to offer tax-loss harvesting services for NFT holders. These sites charge a small fee to purchase NFTs that have lost their value and are difficult to sell. This allows collectors to take financial losses and reduce their overall capital gains tax…

LATEST: Spot Crypto ETFs Could Spark Institutional Crypto Boom, Says Goldman Sachs Expert

Mathew McDermott, head of digital assets at Goldman Sachs, believes that the approval of spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) could ignite institutional interest in the crypto market. McDermott explains that ETFs would enhance market liquidity by offering institutional products that don’t require direct ownership of cryptocurrencies. While he doesn’t expect an immediate transformation, McDermott foresees a gradual shift in the landscape if the SEC approves these ETFs.

Over a dozen firms, including BlackRock and Fidelity, are eagerly awaiting regulatory approval for spot Bitcoin ETFs, raising hopes for direct investment in Bitcoin. McDermott also anticipates growth in the crypto market in the coming year, driven by blockchain’s commercial applications and increased participation from traditional financial institutions. He particularly emphasizes the potential for tokenization, which he believes will see significant development and adoption in 2023. Goldman Sachs’ own tokenization platform, GS DAP, has already demonstrated its efficiency in the market.

With Goldman Sachs’ digital asset team growing steadily, McDermott remains open to expanding the team further as needed, highlighting the continued momentum in the digital asset space.
