Gifts for the crypto lovers in your life (that aren’t NFTs)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — that “wonderful” misery you find yourself in as you frantically brainstorm thoughtful gifts for everyone in your life.

At least one of those people is into crypto (that’s why you clicked on this article, after all).

Maybe you have no idea where to start (“What is this bitcoin thing, anyway?”). Either way, I’ve come up with a…

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce: “No Reason” Against Bitcoin ETF

The Bitcoin community’s year-long anticipation for the approval of Spot Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reached a pivotal moment. Hester Peirce, SEC commissioner, recently talked about the matter, stating that there is “no reason for the regulator to stand in the way of a spot Bitcoin ETF.”

In the recent Bloomberg TV interview with Kailey Lenzi on November 22, Peirce expressed her long-standing belief in the need for a Spot Bitcoin ETF, citing a court “nudge.” She stated:

“I’ve thought for many years now that there’s no reason for us to stand in the way of a spot bitcoin exchange-traded product. […]…

LATEST: Macro Strategist Dan Tapiero Foresees Bitcoin Surging to Over $100,000 in Upcoming Bull Run

Macro guru Dan Tapiero expresses strong optimism for Bitcoin, forecasting a potential surge to a six-figure valuation. In a recent interview, Tapiero predicts Bitcoin could exceed $100,000 in the next bull run, a conservative estimate according to him, marking at least a 167% increase from current levels. With a long-term perspective, he envisions Bitcoin reaching $250,000 to $350,000 by 2029. Regarding ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood’s $1M target, Tapiero sees it as feasible, possibly by 2035 or 2038. He highlights Bitcoin’s growing role as a store of value, competing with traditional assets like real estate and art, and serving as an inflation hedge.

CZ challenges US gov’t attempt to restrict travel before sentencing date

Former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has opposed the United States government’s efforts to block his return to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to be with his family while awaiting sentencing following his guilty plea.

In a court filing on November 23, Zhao’s lawyers urged the judge to reject the proposed alteration of his bail conditions, as put forth by the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ). It was further reiterated that Zhao should be granted permission to leave the U.S. and return to the UAE until his sentencing in February 2024.

The lawyers firmly stated that he has no intention of staying in UAE to evade his sentencing date, despite the potential 18-month prison term.

Blast network hits $400M TVL, rebuts claim that it’s too centralized

Web3 protocol Blast network has gained over $400 million in total value locked (TVL) in the four days since it was launched, according to data from blockchain analytics platform DeBank. But in a Nov. 23 social media thread, Polygon Labs developer relations engineer Jarrod Watts claimed that the new network poses significant security risks due to centralization.

The Blast team responded to the criticism from its own X (formerly Twitter) account, but without directly referring to Watts’ thread. In its own thread, Blast claimed that the network is as decentralized as other layer-2s, including Optimism, Arbitrum, and Polygon.
