CoinFLEX creditors dissatisfied with restructuring to OPNX: Report

Some creditors of cryptocurrency futures exchange CoinFLEX are alleging that OPNX, a new crypto exchange established in part by Three Arrows Capital (3AC) co-founders Kyle Davies and Su Zhu, was created using CoinFLEX assets without their consent.

According to a writ of summons filed in the High Court of Hong Kong and seen by Cointelegraph, CoinFLEX creditors claim that OPNX co-founder and former CEO Mark Lamb is “misappropriating and/or otherwise wrongfully using the assets, human resources, intellectual properties, […] trade secrets and other technologies” of CoinFLEX by diverting them into OPNX. It alleges that Lamb performed these actions contrary to his responsibilities to…

Bitcoin ETFs might come up at Thanksgiving — here’s what to say

“So I heard BlackRock launched a bitcoin ETF,” your uncle might say at the Thanksgiving table.

How will you respond?

Well, first you can clarify that he (let’s call him Jim) means an ETF, or exchange-traded fund. And while the asset management giant indeed wants to bring such a product to market, it does not yet have approval.

“Oh, I see,” Uncle Jim says as he collects another forkful of mashed potatoes. “I can’t say I know much about it beyond all the headlines.”

He’s right — the story has been the subject of numerous stories in recent months. Yet, misconceptions persist.

BlackRock is not the only one pursuing a bitcoin ETF. About a dozen companies —…

FTX’s FTT token rallies 30% — Binance effect or FTX 2.0 reopening?

Amid market uncertainties around Changpeng “CZ” Zhao’s departure as Binance CEO, the in-house cryptocurrency of the FTX crypto exchange, FTX Token (FTT), witnessed a momentary bull run. FTT surged in market value by more than 55% in the past 48 hours and is currently trading at $4.63, reflecting a 30% increase from $3.56.

FTX’s native token is experiencing another surge following Binance’s $4.3 billion settlement with the United States Department of Justice, according to on-chain analyst firm Santiment. This goes against expectations that FTT would fall in price because it’s the new token representing the FTX crypto exchange’s relaunch (FTX 2.0). The token’s value appears to…

LATEST: Bitcoin Hodlers Show Strong Conviction as 70.35% of Supply Stays Inactive for Over a Year

Data from Glassnode reveals that a record-high 70.35% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply has not been active on-chain for at least a year, surpassing the previous peak of 69.35% in July. This reflects strong confidence among long-term Bitcoin holders despite market challenges. Supply untouched for two, three, and five years has also hit lifetime highs. While rising prices may attract new sellers, current data suggests that holders are holding onto their assets, even as Bitcoin doubled to $37,000 this year. Future financialization through ETFs and futures may alter this landscape.

FTX collapse, Binance’s US settlement provide strong case for MiCA regulations

The collapse of FTX in 2022 and Binance’s recent $4.3-billion settlement with United States authorities provide a strong argument for the provisions of the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) legislation, a European Commission official said in an interview.

Ivan Keller, policy officer for the European Commission, spoke to Cointelegraph at the MoneyLIVE conference in Amsterdam. News of Binance’s high-profile settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) broke the night before Keller’s keynote and served as a pertinent reflection point for MiCA’s full-scale application in 2024.

“I think we’ve had several unfortunate confirmations that kind of go down that…
