Wikipedia co-founder says Bitcoin doesn’t work, BTC community claps back

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales took to X (formerly Twitter) on Dec. 11 to take a potshot at Bitcoin, crowing that while many users have lost their Bitcoin because they forgot their BTC wallet passwords, he’s never lost any money due to mislaying his bank password.

Wales’s comments didn’t resonate well with the wider Bitcoin and crypto community, who snapped back at the Wikipedia co-founder about its dependence on donations to run day-to-day operations.

In his X post, Wales sarcastically claimed that he forgot the password to his bank account and lost all his cash, only to then mock the BTC community by adding, “Actually, that didn’t happen because banks work and Bitcoin…

Liquid Collective pitches efficiency standards for Ethereum validators

An Ethereum liquid staking protocol for institutions says it’s now holding those who run its network to new standards and hopes others will follow suit — perhaps boosting yield and attracting more users along the way.

Liquid Collective, developed by Delaware-registered blockchain startup Alluvial Finance and launched earlier this year, introduced the series of service level agreements (SLAs) last week.

These new standards will require Liquid Collective node operators, which include Coinbase Cloud, Figment and Staked, to perform in the top 50th percentile of ETH staking providers operating 100 nodes or more, as ranked by Rated Network’s validator dashboard.

Let’s discuss factors that have been driving the Cardano prices lower recently.

Overbought correction

From the technical perspective, ADA’s price drop today is part of a correction cycle that started on Oct. 9, when ADA’s price reached its 18-month high of $0.64.

Traders secured profits as Cardano’s relative strength index (RSI) on shorter-timeframe charts became “overbought” after crossing 70.

An RSI reading above 70 means the asset is trading is getting overvalued and may undergo trend reversal or corrective pullback.

The ongoing Binance-SEC legal case began on June 5, 2023, when the agency accused the company of 13 securities law violations, including that Zhao and Binance managed…
