The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has announced a significant move in the world of cryptocurrency. Starting from 8 April 2024, the LSE will begin accepting applications for Bitcoin and Ethereum Crypto Exchange-Traded Notes (ETNs). This initiative, pending approval by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for the necessary prospectuses, aims for a trading commencement on 28 May 2024. This date has been chosen to allow a broad participation of issuers from the outset. To be part of the inaugural day, issuers must submit a detailed application and draft prospectus by 15 April 2024, demonstrating compliance with the Crypto ETN guidelines available on the LSE website. Failure to meet the detailed requirements, submit applications in time, or obtain FCA approval for the prospectus by 22 May will result in exclusion from the launch. This development marks a pivotal moment, integrating cryptocurrency more deeply into mainstream financial markets.
