Crypto product inflow streak ends at 11 weeks, but BLOK bucks the trend

Crypto investment products, in aggregate, saw net outflows last week — ending an 11-week run of capital injection into such funds.

The net outflows — though slight at $16 million, according to CoinShares — were a departure from a two-plus month streak during which roughly $1.8 billion entered crypto products.

Bitcoin products saw the most outflows, at $33 million, the data shows. Still, trading volume was $3.6 billion last week — above the year’s weekly average, CoinShares research head James Butterfill said in a Monday report.

Warren’s surveillance legislation is tailor-made to help big banks

It seems that every time Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren fails to get an anti-crypto bill passed, she introduces a new draft. She has the strategy of messaging bills — legislation introduced for the purposes of media attention and fundraising more than actual passage — down to a science.

Warren’s latest legislation, the Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act, threatens to undermine crypto’s core principles of freedom and personal sovereignty. While Warren argues that her bill is necessary to combat illicit activities, a closer look reveals its potential to stifle innovation, endanger user privacy, and play right into the hands of big banks.

The bill, co-sponsored by Kansas…

After 13 months of bankruptcy, FTX files its reorganization plan to end it

FTX’s debtors, the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors and “other creditor stakeholders” agreed to a reorganization plan late last week.

The debtors filed a disclosure statement and a reorganization plan with the bankruptcy court ahead of a 2024 hearing on the plan.

FTX filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 11, 2022. The plan, not yet approved, would have claims honored at the price that they were at in November 2022, meaning that a potential claim for bitcoin would be for $17,000 — the closing price of bitcoin in November 2022 — and not $41,000, where it currently stands.

There are twenty-three claim classes in the proposed plan. The voting deadline for claims will be around a…

HODL: The Bitcoin Meme That Revolutionized Investment Wisdom

The legend of ‘HODL’ began with a single, misspelled word in a forum post by GamerKyuubi on December 18th, 2013. Amidst a turbulent Bitcoin market, his declaration of “I AM HODLING,” despite his self-admitted poor trading skills, struck a chord across the Bitcoin community. This typo turned into a mantra, ‘Hold on for Dear Life,’ encapsulating the resilience required to navigate the volatile seas of Bitcoin investment. ‘HODL’ evolved from a mere meme into a widely embraced investment philosophy, advocating for a long-term holding strategy over quick, risky trades, and thus shaping the approach of countless Bitcoin enthusiasts worldwide.

The term swiftly transcended its origins, morphing into a cultural icon within the cryptocurrency sphere. It represented more than just a humorous anecdote; it became a symbol of endurance and a beacon of hope for investors during times of market uncertainty. The ethos of ‘HODL’ encouraged a shift in perspective: from the frantic pace of day trading to the considered approach of long-term investment. It spoke to those who believed in the foundational principles and future potential of Bitcoin, urging them to weather short-term fluctuations and focus on the long game.

As ‘HODL’ gained momentum, it was embraced not only by individual investors but also by the broader Bitcoin community, including influencers, thought leaders, and even financial analysts. It inspired memes, merchandise, and has been referenced in countless articles and social media posts. The term has been a unifying rally cry in conferences and meetups, embodying a shared understanding among participants of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Moreover, ‘HODL’ reflects a fundamental change in how Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are viewed. No longer just speculative digital assets, they are increasingly seen as part of a diversified long-term investment strategy. This shift in perception, in part catalyzed by the ‘HODL’ movement, has played a significant role in Bitcoin’s journey towards mainstream acceptance and has helped shape public discourse around cryptocurrency investing.

In essence, ‘HODL’ is more than a meme; it’s a testament to the steadfast spirit of the Bitcoin community. It symbolizes the resilience, patience, and long-term vision that are essential in the world of cryptocurrency investing. As Bitcoin continues to evolve and mature, ‘HODL’ remains a key part of its lexicon, a reminder of the power of holding on through the highs and lows of this dynamic market.
