Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin Trade Mixed As Early Spot ETF Flows Fail To Meet Market Expectations: Analyst Predicts Pre-Halving Rally Before King Crypto Skyrockets To $300K

Major cryptocurrencies on Wednesday traded mixed with the bullish momentum showing signs of waning. This shift in momentum can be attributed to the early exchange-traded funds (ETF) flows, which have failed to meet the high market expectations.

What Happened: Bitcoin’s surge has come to a halt, as the cryptocurrency now trades 10% lower from its recent highs near $49,000. This pullback occurred following the launch of 11 spot ETFs and their subsequent trading in the U.S. last Thursday.

In another major development, a federal judge in Manhattan engaged…

After spot bitcoin ETF approval, eyes shift to ether fund decision

The US Securities and Exchange Commission’s approval of spot bitcoin ETFs last week marked a long-awaited milestone.

Though issuers have lined up to also offer ETFs that would hold ether directly, the regulator’s upcoming ruling on those is not necessarily straightforward, industry watchers say.

Ark Invest and 21Shares filed jointly for a spot ether ETF in September. Fund group VanEck, which first applied for such a fund in 2021, refiled for one the same day.

Grayscale Investments moved in October to convert its Ethereum Trust into a spot ether fund, while BlackRock revealed plans for a spot ether ETF the following month.

LATEST: Winklevoss Twins’ Gemini Crypto Exchange Set to Launch in France

Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange owned by the Winklevoss twins, has received regulatory clearance from the French watchdog, Autorite des marches financiers (AMF), to commence its operations in France. This approval paves the way for Gemini to offer its extensive range of services to both retail and institutional clients in the French market. French users can soon access a diverse portfolio of over 70 cryptocurrencies on Gemini’s user-friendly platform, alongside its advanced ActiveTrader tool. Institutional clients will benefit from Gemini eOTC, facilitating electronic over-the-counter trading.

This expansion into France comes at a time when major U.S. crypto firms are eyeing the European Union for growth opportunities due to increased scrutiny from American regulators. Gemini’s strategic choice of Ireland as its European hub aligns with the EU’s progressive Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), enabling crypto companies to operate across EU member states with a single license. While the U.S. is gradually warming up to cryptocurrencies, federal-level regulations are still pending, with several bills making their way through the House of Representatives.

Bitcoin’s Crucial Role in Today’s Financial World

In the revolutionary landscape of finance, Bitcoin emerges as a beacon of transformation, redefining the concept of money and challenging traditional monetary systems. As a decentralized digital currency, Bitcoin offers a peer-to-peer electronic cash system, free from the control of any central authority. This autonomy fortifies its position as a ‘World Class Store of Value’, often likened to digital gold for the 21st century.

Bitcoin’s architecture harnesses the power of blockchain technology, ensuring transparency, security, and immutability. Its capability to facilitate borderless transactions at minimal costs has positioned it as ‘Magic Internet Money’, a financial instrument that transcends geopolitical boundaries. This innovation is not merely a technological advancement but a movement that aligns with ‘Human Rights Technology’, empowering individuals by providing access to a global economy, especially in regions where traditional banking fails to reach.

The growing trend of ‘Nation-State Adoption’ signifies a monumental shift in recognizing Bitcoin’s potential to stabilize economies, combat inflation, and foster financial inclusion. Moreover, its classification as a ‘Grade A Institutional Product’ reflects the growing confidence of sophisticated investors, who acknowledge its value and utility in diversifying portfolios.

In essence, Bitcoin is not just another asset; it is a pioneering force, catalyzing a paradigm shift in how we perceive and interact with money in an increasingly digital world.

Sam Bankman-Fried’s Mom And Dad Want FTX Lawsuit Dropped, Deny Wrongdoing

The legal representatives of Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried have formally requested the dismissal of an action brought against them by the now-insolvent digital currency platform FTX FTT/USD.

The exchange’s legal action aims to reclaim what it describes as illicitly transferred monies. FTX initiated efforts in September 2023 to retrieve “millions of dollars” from Bankman and Fried.

Their son, Sam Bankman-Fried, was later found guilty on seven charges related to defrauding customers and the federal government, and a sentencing hearing is set for March.

The defense for Bankman and Fried, both of whom hold academic positions at Stanford Law School, has made the case that Bankman never held a…

Pricing Out Inscriptions

The battle for the future of Bitcoin is raging in real time on twitter as we are on the cusp of global economic contraction, thanks to 50+ years of the USD fiat regime, and are eagerly waiting for the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF by the SEC. Yet, in the trenches on Twitter, the skirmish being fought is over what bitcoin is and how it should and shouldn’t be used. I covered this battle in some detail on Orange Label, but to summarize there are two camps in this battle: Monetary Maximalists & Blockspace Demand Maximalist. The big question is should inscriptions be a part of Bitcoin and how can they be stopped?

The purpose of this piece is not to sway you one way or another, but rather…

Gary Gensler lost the bitcoin ETF battle. Can he win his crypto war?

I don’t think there’s any confusion about whether Gary Gensler has sought to radically reshape the crypto regulatory landscape in the United States.

Gensler, head of the Securities and Exchange Commission since mid-2021, made that agenda clear in a speech several months after his confirmation by the US Senate. At the time, he argued that “large parts of the field of crypto are sitting astride of — not operating within — regulatory frameworks that protect investors and consumers, guard against illicit activity, ensure for financial stability, and yes, protect national security.”

His agenda centered around several key points: exchange oversight, stablecoins, custody and…

ProShares preps slate of bitcoin ETFs — but not a spot fund

Just days following the debut of the first spot bitcoin ETFs, ProShares is prepping other BTC-related offerings.

The firm, however, still has not divulged plans to offer a fund that would hold bitcoin directly.

ProShares is perhaps best known for launching the first bitcoin futures ETF in October 2021. Up until last week, that fund — the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) — was the largest crypto ETF in the US.

The company now seeks to expand its lineup with five new leveraged and inverse bitcoin funds, Tuesday filings show.
