Anduro: A Network of Sidechains

Marathon yesterday announced their Anduro layer two proposal. While there aren’t really any fundamentally new pieces or developments in the Anduro design, they do compose in slightly different ways compared to other existing sidechain systems such as RSK or Liquid/Elements.

Anduro is a federated model that makes use of a quorum, referred to as the “Collective” in the released documents. The main distinction between Anduro and other sidechain proposals is the explicit design based around the Collective operating and being capable of spinning up and managing multiple sidechains with different architectures. This is not so dissimilar from the concept of drivechains enabled a wider…

Marathon Digital is set to utilize the “dry powder” on its balance sheet as it seeks to roughly double its deployed hash rate by the end of 2025.

The company’s balance sheet comprised roughly $1 billion worth of unrestricted cash and bitcoin combined, as of Jan. 31 — $319 million in cash and held 15,741 bitcoin (BTC).

Bitcoin’s Market Position Amongst Global Central Banks

Bitcoin is making waves in the finance world, reaching an impressive market cap of $1.24 trillion. It’s a significant figure, especially when you look at the values of some of the biggest central banks around the globe. The Federal Reserve leads with $7.8 trillion, and the People’s Bank of China is not too far behind with $5.1 trillion.

In Europe, the Bundesbank has $2.6 trillion, while the Bank of France boasts $2.3 trillion. The Bank of Italy is at $1.5 trillion, and close by are the Bank of Spain with $1.3 trillion and the Bank of England with $1.2 trillion. The Swiss National Bank holds $1.0 trillion, and the Reserve Bank comes in at $0.8 trillion.

Against these giants, Bitcoin stands out because it’s not controlled by any single government or institution. It represents a different way of thinking about money—where anyone with internet access can get involved. It’s about taking the power of money into your own hands, where your financial freedom doesn’t depend on the traditional system of banks and governments. Bitcoin’s rise shows that a lot of people are ready for this new kind of money.

Blockchain is one step away from mainstream adoption

There’s plenty going on with crypto and blockchain right now.

But the biggest news of the year is still the Securities and Exchange Commission’s approval of spot bitcoin ETFs — with $4.5 billion in trading volume in the first 24 hours, all eyes are on how this new investment vehicle will impact public engagement with crypto and blockchain.

Because even though blockchain technology has been in use (and in the public discourse) for over a decade, it’s still accurate to compare its progress to the early days of the internet. Its nascent point in evolution — and clear potential for eventual disruption — echoes Clayton M. Christensen’s disruptive innovation theory, a theory…

LATEST: Robert Kiyosaki Praises Bitcoin’s Superiority Over the Fake US Dollar

Robert Kiyosaki, renowned for his bestseller “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” has openly praised Bitcoin as it breached the $60,000 threshold, a peak not seen since 2021. This significant rally, which saw Bitcoin ascend by $11,000 in just five days on February 28, was met with jubilation by Kiyosaki, who has been a staunch supporter of Bitcoin over traditional monetary systems and investments. On social media, he lauded Bitcoin for outperforming the “fake” U.S. dollar, attributing to it the revival of monetary integrity.

Kiyosaki’s critique is deeply rooted in the abandonment of the Bretton Woods system in 1971, which disconnected currencies from tangible assets like gold, leading him to question the authenticity of fiat money. Bitcoin, with its limited supply, stands as a beacon of stability and value retention for Kiyosaki and like-minded critics of the current financial regime. This event not only highlights Bitcoin’s growing acceptance but also suggests a pivotal shift towards digital currencies, challenging conventional financial paradigms.
