On the Brink of a Dramatic Change: The Digitalization of Money

“What underpins a world order is always the financial system.

We are on the brink of a dramatic change where we are about to, and I’ll say this boldly, abandon the traditional system of money and accounting and introduce a new one. And the new one is what we call blockchain.

It means digital. It means having an almost perfect record of every single transaction that happens in the economy, which will give us far greater clarity over what’s going on. It also raises huge dangers in terms of the balance of power between states and citizens. In my opinion, we’re going to need a digital constitution of human rights if we’re going to have digital money.

Most people think that digital money is…

Why is 2140 the end of bitcoin inflation?

It’s well known that the Bitcoin network experiences a halving of supply approximately every four years. Less appreciated is that these are set to continue for over a century into the future.

Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto programmed the year 2140 — 30 halvings from now — as the year that the block rewards (the subsidy paid to miners for processing transactions into blocks) would drop to less than one satoshi, the smallest unit of bitcoin.

The use of the term “satoshi” — equivalent to 100 millionth of a bitcoin (or 0.00000001 BTC) — emerged organically among early Bitcoin users and developers, appearing in various forums and discussions starting in 2010…

LATEST: Willy Woo Predicts BlackRock’s $9.5 Trillions to Flood into Bitcoin, Digital Assets

Renowned crypto analyst Willy Woo suggests that BlackRock’s immense $9.5 trillion in assets under management could transition towards digital assets, notably Bitcoin, as younger generations display increasing confidence in cryptocurrency. This proposition follows recent statements by BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, who emphasized the necessity of attracting younger investors disillusioned with conventional financial systems, particularly concerning retirement savings. Bloomberg’s analysis echoes this sentiment, attributing Fink’s interest in Bitcoin to its appeal among digitally native demographics.

Woo highlights a significant uptick in inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, with a daily net influx of $418 million recorded on March 26 amidst general market volatility. He notes a resurgence in Bitcoin ETF flows post-selling, indicating renewed confidence from institutional and retail investors. As the cryptocurrency market matures and garners attention from traditional financial institutions, the gradual adoption of digital assets by major players like BlackRock could further solidify Bitcoin’s role in global finance, potentially reshaping the investment landscape for years to come.

JUST IN: Court Rules Against Coinbase in Significant Decision, Dismisses Part of SEC’s Complaint

In a big update, Court has determined that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) provided enough evidence to show that Coinbase acts like an exchange, a broker, and a clearing agency according to federal laws related to securities. This includes Coinbase’s Staking Program, which the court believes involves offering and selling securities without proper registration. However, the court did agree with Coinbase regarding one part of the SEC’s claims about Coinbase’s digital wallet, indicating that the SEC’s arguments in this area were not convincing enough, and thus, those specific claims were not accepted.
