Bitcoin is of ‘national strategic importance’ says US Space Force officer

The United States needs to formally investigate using proof-of-work networks such as Bitcoin (BTC) to protect the country from cyber-inflicted warfare, according to Jason Lowery, a member of the United States Space Force.

In a four-page letter to the U.S. Defense Innovation Board on Dec. 2, Lowery explained that while Bitcoin is mostly seen as a “monetary system” to secure funds, few know that Bitcoin can be used to secure “all forms of data, messages or command signals.”

“As a result, this misconception underplays the technology’s broad strategic significance for cybersecurity, and consequently, national security.”

Binance’s explosive growth led to compliance failures

“As part of the settlement, CZ cannot be involved in the day-to-day running of the company’s operations,” Richard Teng explains.

Despite that, the incumbent CEO of Binance cuts the figure of a man reveling in the challenges ahead. Speaking to Cointelegraph just two weeks after taking over from outgoing CEO Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao, Teng seems to be relishing being at the helm of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange:

“I’m taking the baton and pushing ahead with our growth agenda while working very closely with global regulators.”

Teng believes that the “overcast” conditions clouding Binance in recent months are lifting following its staggering $4.3 billion settlement with…

Bitcoin price surge toward $40K boosts sentiment in KAS, RUNE, MNT and RNDR

Bitcoin (BTC) finally broke above the formidable resistance of $38,000 in the past week and marched closer to $40,000. This move shows that Bitcoin’s trajectory remains up. The bulls will try to maintain the momentum and achieve a strong close to the year, while the bears will try to pull the price down.

The major tailwind for Bitcoin is the expectation that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will approve a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund as early as January. Swan Bitcoin CEO Cory Klippsten said in an interview with Bloomberg that the window for the approval for the spot Bitcoin ETF “seems to have been narrowed to January 8th, 9th, or 10th.”
