Robinhood has officially released its cryptocurrency wallet for Android users, extending access to millions of potential crypto enthusiasts worldwide. This expansion comes a year after the wallet’s launch for iOS users globally, with the Android app transitioning from beta to general release, allowing all waitlisted customers to download and utilize the wallet.
Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood Crypto’s general manager, sees this Android launch as a significant advancement in the company’s mission to integrate crypto into daily life for millions globally. Robinhood’s crypto business has shown growth, with a 10% year-over-year increase in crypto revenue to $43 million in Q4 2023 and an 89% rise in notional crypto trading volume compared to the previous quarter.
The self-custodial wallet, already downloaded “hundreds of thousands of times” globally, supports various cryptocurrencies and networks, including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and others. Robinhood plans to add new features based on user feedback, aiming to provide access to cross-chain swaps and lower entry barriers into web3 through partnerships with organizations like Arbitrum, LI.FI, and 0x.
