LATEST: Donald Trump Acknowledges Bitcoin as ‘Additional Form of Currency’

Donald Trump, former US President and current Republican candidate, admits to enjoying interactions with cryptocurrency but refrains from active trading. In a CNBC interview, Trump described cryptocurrency as having a life of its own and occasionally accepts bitcoin as payment, considering it an “additional form of currency.”

This represents a shift from his previous skepticism, where he once labeled cryptocurrency a “scam” in 2021. Despite past criticisms, Trump has ventured into the crypto space, selling nonfungible tokens (NFTs) like a trading card collection and a “Mugshot Edition” in December 2022. Arkham Intelligence reported a crypto portfolio, believed to be owned by Trump, selling 1,075 ETH in December, valued at $2.4 million.

Trump’s evolving stance mirrors a broader trend of increased recognition of cryptocurrencies’ significance, signaling a changing landscape in finance and politics.
