US, Britain and other countries ink ‘secure by design’ AI guidelines

The United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and 15 other countries have released global guidelines to help protect AI models from being tampered with, urging companies to make their models “secure by design.”

On Nov. 26, the 18 countries released a 20-page document outlining how AI firms should handle their cybersecurity when developing or using AI models, as they claimed “security can often be a secondary consideration” in the fast-paced industry.

The guidelines consisted of mostly general recommendations such as maintaining a tight leash on the AI model’s infrastructure, monitoring for any tampering with models before and after release, and training staff on cybersecurity…

Blast’s marketing approach “cheapens the work of a serious team” — Paradigm

Crypto venture capital firm Paradigm criticized Blast’s protocol marketing strategy, claiming the startup “crossed lines in both messaging and execution.” The VC firm is a seed investor in Blast.

The head of research at Paradigm, Dan Robinson, shared a statement on X (formerly Twitter) expressing disagreement about Blast’s decision to launch a bridge before its layer-2 network and to not allow withdrawals for three months. “We think it sets a bad precedent for other projects,” Robinson wrote, adding that “much of the marketing cheapens the work of a serious team.”

There are a lot of components of Blast that I’m excited about and would be interested in engaging with people…

NEW: Former NYSE President Tom Farley Predicts Major Capital Influx into Crypto with Bitcoin ETF Approval

Former New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) President Tom Farley expressed optimism about the approval of a Bitcoin ETF, which could lead to significant capital influx into the crypto industry. In a recent CNBC interview, Farley highlighted Bitcoin’s recognition as a non-security by regulators, potentially expediting the ETF’s approval. He acknowledged Bitcoin’s volatile nature but emphasized its value as an enduring store of value. However, Farley also noted some skepticism about the ETF’s immediate approval, citing the SEC’s cautious stance on cryptocurrencies. Despite this, the overall sentiment remains positive for Bitcoin’s future in the financial market.

Bitcoin struggles to flip $38K to support, while UNI, IMX, VET and ALGO aim to push higher

Bitcoin (BTC) rose above $38,000 on Nov. 24, but the bulls could not build upon this strength. This suggests hesitation to buy at higher levels. Bitcoin is on track to form a Doji candlestick pattern on the weekly chart for the second consecutive week. This signals indecision among the bulls and the bears about the next directional move.

With Bitcoin maintaining near its 18-month high, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes retained his bullish stance. In a X (formerly Twitter) post, Hayes said that the United States dollar liquidity was increasing, which is likely to push Bitcoin higher.

What’s next for Binance’s Changpeng “CZ” Zhao

A recent court filing suggests that Changpeng “CZ” Zhao’s legal challenges are just beginning, despite pleading guilty to violating the United States Anti-Money Laundering requirements in a settlement with the Department of Justice.

Zhao is expected to be sentenced in February 2024. Blockchain needs standards – Blockworks

The 2023 crypto winter has been challenging for many, not least the thieves who target crypto wallets, platforms and token protocols. So far this year, they’ve only managed to steal $1 billion in crypto assets — a steep fall from 2022’s record $3.8 billion.

Unfortunately, the decline appears to have more to do with a reduction in available capital than with stronger defenses. And while the scale of attacks has fallen, their frequency has in fact risen sharply: from 60 hacks in 2022 to 75 as of the end of October. And the year isn’t over.

If decentralized finance is ever to be widely accepted by retail and institutional investors, then it needs to achieve its goal of…
