LATEST: Kenya Partners with Marathon in Using Energy for Mining

Kenya partnered with Bitcoin miner Marathon Digital Holdings towards exploiting the country’s under-utilized energy resources, which, if effected, would be a groundbreaking deal into the country. This landmark deal in the attempt to exploit the country’s enormous geothermal power entreated the people of Kenya in mining of Bitcoin and other technological applications. Fred Thiel, the Chief Executive Officer of Marathon, and came out and promised to collaborate so as to win the first-ever effort in monetizing this excess power for the growth of the economy and saving power.

Indeed, Kenya has untapped potential in geothermal power. This shall be an attempt to increase the revenue base while seeking to improve on its technological development. This was further echoed by the president, who said that the partnership would boost the economy, create jobs, and put Kenya in a position to be among the leading countries in sustainable energy and technology.

Marathon Digital will have to liaise with Kenya’s National Treasury and the Ministry of Energy to understand the energy needs and the cryptocurrency-mining regime. The efforts shall not only serve the excess power but also seek to develop technology projects that shall improve the infrastructure and technological landscapes of Kenya.
